Growing up can be hard; trying to find yourself and figure life out. So, when I’m feeling particularly “adulty” I’ll try to tackle something that I know needs improving. The other day I decided I was done with *most* of my drug store makeup and needed to take the plunge into quality makeup that matched my skin tone. To do this, I headed to Sephora with my best friend who is always up to date on the makeup scene (find her Insta @mollyrocks).
I put my makeup fate in professional hands (a smart decision) and had one of the makeup specialists Color IQ me. Taken directly from Sephora, this is how Color IQ works if it’s something you’re new to:
The stylist took a hand-held device and ran it across different parts of my face and it gave me a Color IQ number of 3Y05. With this number, I had access to all of the different brands that carried my color. He asked me what I was looking for and with my specifics (liquid foundation with an SPF, oil-free) I landed on liquid foundation from Tarte’s new Rainforest of the Sea collection. The product is lightweight, which is a must in the Florida heat, has an SPF of 15 and best of all, Tarte is all natural so there are no unhealthy chemicals on my skin (big plus!) With my little pink beauty blender, it’s a breeze to put on in the morning and followed by a little powder, it stays on all day.
The second thing I bought was Sephora brand 24-hour liquid eyeliner with an angled felt tip. This is hands down the best eyeliner I’ve ever used and it was only $14. The tip is angled to create the perfect line EVERY time, it’s smudge-proof and actually stays on (and vibrant) all day.
